For the first time ever, Leiden MUN is proud to open sign-ups for our one-day-long Professional Skills Summer School!

Do you want to ace giving presentations confidently and strongly? Are you wanting to take your persuasive skills to the next level? Does networking directly with Ambassadors to embassies around the Hague excite you?

Our one-day course aims to give you a taste of what and how Leiden MUN teaches. You will participate in two Skills Lab workshops: one first focusing on Public Speaking, and the second on Lobbying and Negotiation. You will also have the unique opportunity to enjoy an intimate, round-table discussion with several ambassadors who work for different countries in the Hague. Afterwards, there will be a borrel where you can get to know the Board and connect with other participants!

There are no requirements to join us for this course, and we welcome students and young professionals from all study backgrounds.

Please note that we can only offer 30 places in the Summer Course. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis.

 

What does the Course entail?

  1. Welcome and Introduction

  2. Public Speaking workshop

  3. Lobbying and Negotiation workshop

  4. Discussion with Ambassadors

  5. Participation certificate

  6. Borrel

The Summer Course is made up of three main components: two workshops and the Ambassadors event. For the workshops, our experienced Delegate Trainers will begin by teaching the theory behind the skills you will learn before practicing those skills through interactive exercises. The Ambassadors event is an exclusive opportunity to have intimate discussions with a number of Ambassadors to a variety of embassies across the Hague. It is a prime opportunity to gain insight into real-life diplomacy, ask questions about your areas of interest, as well as network with both the Ambassadors and other young, budding professionals. So far, we can confirm the attendance of the Ambassador of Costa Rica amongst others!

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE SWIFTlY CHANGING RULES REGARDING PHYSICAL MEETINGS, LEIDEN MUN IS UNABLE TO GUARANTEE the summer course as taking place PHYSICAL. For the safety of all participants, we require that participants show proof of a negative self-test taken on the day of the summer course.
